$10 Sells for $27,100 on eBay Auction

Sounds like a great way to make money? Well yes it certainly is, but the $10 bank note in question was an extremely rare note printed in 1905 and featuring a portrait of President William McKinley.

The $10 note was sold on eBay to a New Jersey man for $27,100. Jess Lipka, has been a currency collector for over 30 years and is reported as saying that the bill is "very rare, very desirable."

The serial No. 1 note was from the first series of its type printed and bears a red seal on the front together with the bank president's signature and the portrait of McKinley. Apparently, many serial No. 1 notes were saved by bankers for themselves. The anonymous seller, was said to be "shocked" by the sale price.

The auction was run on behalf of the seller by drop-off store, iSold It, which operates a large chain of eBay drop-off stores and made over $5,000 in commission. Both the seller and the iSold-It franchisee are reported to be well satisfied with the deal.
