Intel Offers $10,000 Reward on eBay

Around 40 years ago, Gordon Moore, now chairman emeritus at Intel, made a famous prediction. Moore forecast that the performance of computer chips would double approximately once every 18 months. And that prediction still holds true today.

However, original copies of Moore’s declaration were lost when he lent out his own copy which subsequently went missing. Now, Intel Corp. is using the “want it now” facility on eBay to help trace the original and has posted a reward of $10,000 on the world’s largest online auction site.

The original article was published in the April 19 1965, issue of Electronics. But the magazine went out of business some time ago and Intel, the largest chip maker in the world does not have a copy.

Intel is apparently hopeful that the $10,000 price tag will encourage the electronic engineering community to search their archives for a copy of the magazine.

So if you have a collection of 1960’s Electronics magazines, now is the time to rummage through the attic and see if you have the copy that Intel is looking for. You can search eBay listings here for more details.
