eBay Drop-Off Store Opens in Canada
There is an increasing trend amongst the eBay community towards opening local drop-off stores that act as agents for the seller and take a commission in exchange for their services.
The first eBay drop-off store franchise in Canada is operated by Imagine This Sold (www.imaginethissold.com) which provides online auction services through eBay.
Peter Wohl, CEO of the company is reported as saying "The typical garage sale starts with an ad in the local paper, takes up an entire day of haggling with friends, neighbours and strangers and ends with tired sellers giving in on low prices.”
Wohl continued "Imagine This Sold makes selling quality items as easy as 1-2-3: 1, stop at our store - 2, drop off your items - 3, collect your cheque. We also enable sellers to market their items to 147 million registered users in the global eBay retail community."
Many long-established eBay shops are now examining a variety of new ways to do business and to attract potential buyers in the increasingly competitive eBay marketplace. Some shops and stores are joining externally promoted directories so they gain not only from general eBay brand recognition, but also steal a lead over their direct competitors.
eBay provides a good environment in which to trade both locally and internationally, but as the number of sellers increases and eBay’s globalisation continues, evolution of new methods will be necessary for eBay shops and stores who want to stay in front.
