Is eBay the Place to Find Xbox 360?

The Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console hasn’t been released yet, but even so, items are beginning to appear on the world’s largest online marketplace - eBay.

Shortly after a major launch party for the Xbox 360, an E3 faceplate which was made especially for the unveiling ceremony at Electronics Entertainment Expo in the US, was listed on eBay and attracting bids. It will, however, be several months yet before the Xbox 360 becomes generally available.

Apparently some 5,000 of the white, silver and green faceplates were handed out to attendees at the event. The standard Xbox has been designed so that the plain faceplate can be replaced with a variety of other colours and designs.

In an unrelated news item, it seems that eBay’s new reverse auction “Want it Now” feature is starting to become a favourite with buyers who are looking for rare items. The following ad was placed recently on eBay.com –

“I am willing to pay basically whatever it takes to get two Xbox 360 systems. Submit whatever offer you think is reasonable and I'll contact you. I am very serious about getting this system before it hits the market. I need them for a gift for my brother who will be 16 and for my best friend who will be 21 before the system is available in stores. I would like to have them as soon as possible. Thank you for your time!”
