New Pope’s Old Car for Sale on eBay
The new Pope Benedict XVI apparently used to drive around in a Volkswagen Golf car. The Golf, which is said to have been registered in the name of Joseph Ratzinger, is now up for sale on eBay.
The car is a 1999 model in metallic grey and was originally listed on eBay auctions a few days ago with a minimum price of Euros 9,900. With five days left to run, bidding had reached over Euros 40,000 and looked set to attain even more lofty heights.
The seller, located in Olpe, Germany, apparently bought the car from a local dealer early this year. It isn’t reported whether the seller purchased the car with a view to being an investment, or whether this was just a heaven-sent opportunity to capitalise on a piece of good luck.
