Effective communication between sellers and buyers is extremely
important to avoid misunderstandings and the negative feedback that this can
bring for both parties.
Selling on eBay is all about being part of a community, even
though you are unlikely to meet any of your customers face to face or on the telephone
(although the introduction of Skype will bring
about more voice communication between buyers and sellers).
There a number of standard tools available to help you manage the
relationship with bidders:-
- You can pre-approve
bidders that you’ve dealt with successfully in the past.
- Bidders
who you have not had good experience with in the past can be blocked
from future bidding.
- In
exceptional circumstance, you can cancel bids, although this should not
be used unless there are very good reasons.
- Answering bidders’
questions should be done as quickly as possible. The My eBay view will
provide you with prompts when bidders ask a question and you can answer
these quickly by posting a public or private response on the item
listing.
But remember, the best way to manage your bidders is to take a
professional and courteous stance in all communications.
