One of the constant challenges for eBay shop owners is to achieve an eye-catching look and feel for their storefronts and listings.

eBay provides a facility to build a customised banner that can be included in all of the shop’s listings and this give a great way to promote specific “hot buttons” or themes about your eBay Shop.

First go to My eBay and then to "Manage My Shop" and select the icon for the listing header function. Then choose "Show my listing header in my listings" and the listing header will be displayed at the top of each item description you place on eBay auctions.

As a standard feature, the listing header includes the Shop’s name together with a hyperlink to the home page for your shop and the colour scheme you selected.

The following can also be selected for inclusion in the header:-

  • A customised logo
  • Search facilities for the shop (it’s best to use this only if you expect to have many listings)
  • If you use custom categories, hyperlinks can be provided to these.
  • Your About Me page can also be linked from the header
  • A “Favourite Seller” link allows buyers to place you on their preferred list
  • An invitation to buyers to subscribe to your email marketing service.

The listing header can be previewed before you finally decide on the finished look, so there are plenty of opportunities to experiment before finally publishing.
