eBay started back in 1995 as an online auction site
specialising in collectables and antiques and often the price of an item was
quite high and buyers wanted some protection against possible fraud or
deception by the seller. Now, whilst many items on eBay are relatively low
price, an increasing number of items over £250 are being bought and sold. eBay recommends that for any item in this higher
price category, an ESCROW service should be used for additional protection
for the buyer. Sometimes you might like to inspect an item before making the final
payment and ESCROW can be useful here too. ESCROW protects the buyer from purchasing an unsatisfactory item
or from an unscrupulous seller who never sends the item you’ve already paid
for. ESCROW provides a third party “holding area” for your money. Only after
you have taken delivery of the item and confirmed that it conforms to the descriptions
and quality in the original listing, does the seller receive payment from the
ESCROW service. But if you want to use ESCROW, there are some things you need to
know:-
Take a look on the main eBay site for their recommendations on
ESCROW companies. You can get there via our link to eBay UK. |
