eBay provides a lot of fully automated routines to
help in the communication between buyers and sellers. One of these is the automatic
Bid Confirmation Notice email.
Whenever you place a bid on an item which is not immediately
outbid by a higher bidder, you will receive an email from eBay confirming
that your bid has been received and logged on the system.
Typically, the email will have a heading something like…..”Thank
you for bidding in the Antiques>Asian Artefacts>Rugs category [ID name]”.
“We appreciate the trading you do on eBay and want to confirm the
details of your bid.” The email will then list the item description, the item
number, your current bid price, the maximum bid you are willing to make and
the auction end date/time.
At the bottom of the email will be a hyperlink to the item you
have placed a bid on which you can click just to make sure it’s what you
thought you’d bid for!
If you buy frequently on eBay, the one downside of all these
automated emails can be that your in-box fills up very quickly, so by
amending your notification preference in My eBay, you can opt out of receiving
this email (as well as others).
You can still get confirmation of bids and other related information
via the Bidding and Watching tab on the My eBay page.
