Design |
|
Low
Level Design
Objective
The objective is to prepare Low Level Design (LLD) based on the High
Level Design (HLD) document and Software Requirement Specifications (SRS)
document. This stage also involves updating the draft version of various manuals
prepared during HLD phase, writing Unit Test Plans (UTP) and to get approval
for all of these from Quality Assurance (QA). Entry
Criteria
Low Level Design Process starts
when: ·
Approved High Level Design
Document is available ·
Updated Project Plan (PP) along
with Configuration Management Plan
(CM) is available ·
Approved System Test Plans are
available ·
Outline of User Manual and System
Manual is available Process
Description
Low Level Design focuses on refinements to the architectural
representation laid down by the High Level Design. The various activities
carried out during a Low Level Design are given below. ·
Convert the Logical Data items
identified during HLD into the corresponding physical data structures and
identify the operations performed on them. ·
Prepare the procedural
Specification including algorithmic details ·
Specify the logic for each unit /
module of the software using Pseudocode / English. ·
Prepare the Low Level Design
document ·
Prepare Unit Test Plans. Refer to
the Unit Testing phase for more details ·
The QA personnel and the client
along with the project team should review the LLD document and the Unit Test
plan. The review checklist for LLD document appears in procedure MT/TECH/FTR. ·
Update the LLD document and Unit
Test Plan based on the review results ·
Update the Project Plan and CM. Note: When Prototyping
methodology is followed for design and development, there is no activity
correspond to the Low Level Design phase (detailed design). That is, upon finishing
a quick design (corresponding to High Level Design) the development (code
& unit test) phase is started immediately. Deliverables
from the process
·
Reviewed and approved LLD Document ·
Reviewed and updated Project Plan ·
Unit Test Plans ·
Updated version of User manual,
System manual and Trouble shooting guide Exit
Criteria
The LLD process is completed when: ·
