System Testing

Objective

The objective of System Testing is to verify that all the modules within an application interface successfully.

Entry Criteria

·         System Test Plan available

Process Description

·         The System Test Plan is prepared during the High Level Design (HLD) stage. Test Data is prepared for the Test Cases. Refer to the form for Test Plan (Clause No. 12.4.1) and Test Case and Review (Clause No. 12.4.2).

·         The System Test Plan and Test Cases are reviewed using the Document Review Form REV-F001 by either a peer or  the project manager. Review comments are to be tracked to closure before testing commences.

·         System testing is conducted based on the System Test Plan.

·         Prepare the System Test Report based on the System testing done for each module. It provides summary statistics on the testing conducted, in terms of number of passed and failed test cases and also reports any deviations from the expected result.       

·         For systems where User Manual has been developed, a testing based on the User Manual will be conducted and results recorded and findings tracked to closure.

Deliverables from the process

·         Reviewed System Test Plan / Test Cases

·         System Test Plan along with recorded passed/failed criterion

·         System Test Report

·         User Manual Test Report (if applicable)

·         System Tested Code

Exit Criteria

·         System Test Report available with all test cases passed successfully

·         Traceability matrix updated (Refer to 12.3.5  for format of this matrix)

·         User Manual updated
