Even though there are usually millions of items listed on your
own country eBay site, you might like to take a look at what’s on offer from
eBay auctions in other countries.
There are two ways to search internationally – you can use “Advanced
Search” from your local country site; or you can visit the other eBay sites
across the world.
Just load your local country home page and use the links at the
bottom of this page to go to eBay’s other auctions across the world. Remember
though, that unless you are a registered user on these sites, you will not be
able to buy directly – you will need to do that from your “home country”.
So the best way of finding what’s available to you from
international sellers is to use Advanced Search in your “home eBay” and enter
the relevant keywords and categories for the item you want to find. Use the "Location/International"
option to select a search outside your own country.
If you are located in the UK, then as a default,
the international search will find only those items that international
sellers are willing to ship here. If you are not in the UK, then select your
country from the pull-down menu and the search will give results showing
sellers willing and able to ship items to your own country.
You can also elect to find items only from one specific country
by using the "Located in” option which will allow you to pick an eBay
country site to search. Remember that if for, example, you choose Germany, that most of the item
listings and descriptions will be in German. eBay
doesn’t yet offer automatic translation facilities.
Please be sure to check on each sellers’ listing that they are
willing to ship to your country (and also what the postage costs will be)
before you place a bid. International shipment and insurance as well as UK/EU
import duties and taxes can sometimes make a bargain into an expensive item.
