Sometimes, you want to purchase an item immediately, rather than
waiting for a standard eBay auction to end in maybe 3, 5 or even 10 days
time. Many standard auctions have a special feature – Buy it Now, which
allows you to purchase the item instantly.
When you use the eBay search facility, you can select the option
to view only Buy it Now listings. The Buy it Now icon is displayed on each of
these listings, together with the Buy it Now price.
Here’s how to use the Buy It Now option:-
- First you
need to decide if you are willing to pay the price that the seller has
published for the item. Is it better to place a bid instead?
- Post and
packing (and carrier insurance if applicable) are charged in addition to
the Buy It Now price, so it is usually a good idea to use the “ask
seller a question” function to check what the total price will be.
- You might
also want to confirm with the seller that the item can be dispatched
quickly. There is little point in using Buy it Now
to make an instant purchase, if the item cannot be shipped quickly.
- Select the
Buy It Now option on the item page and type in your ID plus password.
- A Buy It
Now confirmation message will be displayed and you can now select which
payment method to use.
Buy It Now options which are included on standard auction format
listings will be displayed only until the first bid is received. If the
listing includes a reserve price, the Buy it Now option will disappear as
soon as a bid equal to, or greater than, the reserve price is received.
If your feedback total is negative or your credit card details are
not on file with eBay, you will not be able to use Buy it Now.
