One of the extremely useful facilities offered by eBay is the
capability for buyers and sellers to communicate quickly and effectively. You
will never have to place a bid on an item if you are not certain you
understand something the seller has mentioned in their listing, or if you
think there is some additional information that you would like to have.
You can use the “Ask Seller a Question” feature to contact the
seller directly to clarify anything about the item or the terms and
conditions of sale. Some listings can have quite a lot of text to read
through so it’s usually a good idea to read this carefully first to see if
the information you need is in the “small print”. If not, you might want to
ask:-
- How
quickly could the item be despatched?
- What would
be the cost of postage for a guaranteed next day delivery?
- Is the
remainder of a guarantee available (for new items) and if so for how
long?
- Is there a
certificate of authenticity? (for example designer sunglasses)
On each item listing page you will find links that let you send
the seller a question - just click on these and a form will pop up which you
can fill out and then send to the seller.
It’s usually a good idea to try to ask the questions a reasonable
amount of time before the listing is due to end so that the seller has time
to respond. Remember too that whilst you can search for items and examine
them prior to registering as a member on eBay, you are not able to use the “ask
seller a question” facility or bid on an item.
