eBay’s standard checkout process is a procedure that guides both the buyer and the seller through the steps needed to successfully conclude the sale. In Selling Manager and Selling Manager Pro, the checkout process is still followed, but there are some slight differences and also some additional features.

It is not unusual for a buyer and seller to communicate about a transaction without using the standard checkout process – for example they may exchange emails or telephone calls to discuss extra charges for special postage or discounts for combined purchases.

Every sales transaction in Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro has a unique sales record which contains information about the buyer (name and address etc), the item, price and postage. The “seller discounts and charges” field on the sales record can be used to enter these discounts or extra charges

When the buyer completes his part of the checkout process, the postal address and email information are filled in automatically on the Sales Record. Sometimes, buyers will require delivery to a different address and will record this in the “notes” section of the sales record, so don’t forget to check for this when posting the item.

The Checkout process allows sellers to send the buyer an invoice for their purchase, independently of the invoice function in Selling Manager or Selling Manager Pro.
