There are many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of items listed on eBay UK at any time. So what can you do to make your item more noticeable to potential buyers?

Well, it’s usually NOT a good idea to try and make your description stand out by:-

  • ************Using lots of Asterisks***********
  • L@@K---Does not attract positive attention from buyers---L@@K
  • !!!!!!!!! This is also not worth trying !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those sorts of techniques might have been effective a few years ago, but now they have become so overused that buyers tend to ignore them, or might even think your item is so unattractive that you have to resort to these tactics to get noticed.

So it’s far better to use one of the many promotional tools available from eBay and these include:-

  • Listing your item in two categories can produce very good results – for example there are two “clock” categories – one in Antiques and one in Home and Garden. If you are selling an antique clock, try a listing in both categories.

  • You can select that your item appears in the Gallery – your item’s picture will then be shown on search results and category browses.

  • Featured items in the Gallery appear first in search results

  • Your listing can be displayed in bold

  • Your listing can be highlighted

  • For £50.00, your listing can even be made to appear on the eBay Home page. It won’t be visible all the time, but will take its turn with other Home Page Featured items.

Have a look at eBay’s Help pages for lots more ways to make your listing stand out from the crowd. You can get to their main site via our link.
