As a security measure, when you are not actively using eBay, or if you close down your internet browser, you will be automatically logged off and you will have to go through the sign-in process again to continue what you were doing.

Whilst this is a good safety precaution, it can sometimes be frustrating if, for example, you are using your home PC and need to take a break for lunch.

So there is an option to stay signed-in which can be accessed on the sign-in page. Following the prompts for eBay User ID; Forgot your User ID?; Password; and Forgot your password?; you will see the message - Keep me signed in. Select this option and your computer will remember your ID and password so you don’t have to key them in again.

This will only last for the current day, so even if you forget to log out before going to bed, you don’t have the risk that someone else will get onto your home PC in the morning and be able to access your eBay account.

Even when you select to stay signed-in, accessing your account details for personal data of financial information will still need you to enter your password.

Staying signed-in is very convenient, but we strongly recommend that you do not enable this facility if you use a public or shared PC. Also, you should always select “Sign Out” when you've finished using eBay, so that no one else can access your account.
