Many eBay members use their About Me pages to list details of their interests and hobbies. When a buyer feels that they know a little bit about you as a person, it can often help their decision to buy your item, rather than a similar one from an “unknown” seller.

But you can also use About Me to promote your eBay shopping services and products or even your own website too (provided you don’t encourage off-eBay trading!)

Using the standard templates for your About Me is easy, but you can also make use of specially created HTML tags from eBay to help enhance the “look and feel” of your page.

These tags will automatically display information about you, the items you have for sale, or your feedback.

You will need to be able to create simple HTML to use these tags and we recommend that you visit the eBay Help pages, where you’ll find full details of the Tags as well as simple guides to basic HTML. You can go to the eBay UK main site via our search link page

Here are a few examples of what you can do with eBay Tags:-

  • Including the <eBayUserID> tag will display your User ID at the text location you specified in your HTML.

  • Using <eBayUserID NOFEEDBACK> will display the User ID, but will not show your feedback score.

  • The <eBayUserID EMAIL> tag will show your User ID together with your email address.

  • The generic tag <eBayItemList> will displays your currently listed items.

You can apply additional parameters to the generic tag to sort your items, or to show specific categories – here are a couple of examples:-

  • <eBayItemList SORT="n"> will sort your listed items in date sequence. Replacing the “n” with the character 8 will show most recent listings first; 4 will sort by price, in ascending order.

  • <eBayItemList CATEGORY="n"> - will list your items in specific categories. For example, replacing “n” with the number 353 will show your items in the Antiques category; 293 will show your listings in “Consumer Electronics”
