Most of the time, when you list an item for sale on eBay, you won’t
need to change anything. But if, for example, you find an important extra
piece of information about your item that you didn’t have when it was first
listed, you might want to change the description.
But there are rules about what you can do. The data you can change
is dependent on the selling format, the amount of time before the listing is
due to finish and also whether there have been any bids or (for multiple item
listings) any purchases.
If there have been no bids or purchases and the auction is not
scheduled to finish inside the next 12 hours, you are allowed to revise any
details in your listing with the exception of its “selling format”. So, for
example, it’s not possible to convert an auction format listing into a fixed
price listing.
If your listing finishes in the next 12 hours, or a bid has been
received, or a purchase has been made, then you are only allowed to:-
- Add a
second category for the item listing, or change the original category.
- Add to (but
not change) the original listing’s description (unless the listing has received
a bid and will also finish in less than 12 hours, in which case
no additions or achanges are allowed)
- Optional promotional
features can be used, such as highlighting, gallery featured etc.
If you need to revise your listing, go to My eBay and select “Selling”
from the left hand menu bar – this will take you to the “Revise Your Item” page.
