The reputation of a buyer is defined by the feedback they receive from sellers, so it’s important to leave feedback for your buyer when the transaction is completed. This helps other eBay sellers know what it was like doing business with this particular buyer.

  • If your buyer properly adhered to the bidding procedure, paid promptly and was not unreasonable in any queries they might have raised, then you should give them a positive feedback comment.

  • If you were treated unreasonably, you should contact the other person before leaving feedback to see if the problem can be resolved amicably. If not, then you can use eBay’s dispute resolution procedure to see if making the issue formally visible to eBay rectifies the problem – if not, then you can leave neutral or negative feedback.

  • Only leave feedback when you are sure the transaction has been completed. Most sellers wait until they have received feedback from their buyer before leaving their own feedback. Up to 90 days is allowed for feedback to be given.

  • Your feedback must relate only to the specific item listing – you are not allowed to give a buyer feedback that relates to another transaction you may have had with them.

If you are a high volume seller, the task of leaving feedback for many buyers can become time consuming. eBay’s Selling Manager Pro subscription service includes automatic notification when feedback is due and an automated feedback “generator” which can be used to autoselect from a range of customised feedback comments.
