Want-it-Now

The simplest and quickest way of locating and viewing your item listings is to choose the “Items I’m Selling” view in My eBay. But if you want to check that your listing can be found by potential bidders, then you should also use the various Search facilities or Category browsing methods.

Items do not necessarily appear immediately in listings visible to other members, so you may be able to view your items from My eBay, but until they are “indexed” by the eBay system, you might not be able to find them in search results or category browses. It can take up to 6 hours for listings to be shown, although usually it is much less. If your listing has not been displayed after 6 hours, you should contact eBay customer support.

An item listing can appear in several different places on eBay at any one time. You may have placed it in two categories, chosen the Gallery option, or even a Home page listing where it will appear in rotation on eBay’s front page.

Entering the item number in the search box (at the top right corner of all eBay pages) will locate your item. But it’s often a good idea to use the other search facilities to check on how easily your item will be found when a buyer uses that particular search option.

Enter one or more keywords that you have used in your item title and/or the listing description and inspect the search results. How much competition do you have? Should you change the words you used in the title and description to make your item easier for buyers to find?

Try to think like a buyer – what words would you use if you were looking for an item like the one you have listed. Making a few changes to your item title could make a significant difference to the number of bidders you attract.
