What do you do if you’re trying to leave feedback and the eBay system displays a message that the person is “Not a Registered User”? Well, there isn’t much you can do because the eBay feedback system doesn’t allow you to leave feedback for anyone that is not a registered member of eBay.

All you can do is wait. If the person is re-instated you will be able to leave feedback for them, but only if the item still appears on your “My eBay” feedback page – after 90 days, the item will be removed.

So why would a user become de-registered? There are only two possible explanations:-

  • The member closed his or her account with eBay. It’s very unusual for this to happen as the “resignation” process is not just a matter of clicking a button – you have to email eBay with your reasons for closing the account and then there is a 180 day waiting period before the account is actually closed. Most people simply stop using eBay if it no longer interests them.

  • The more likely reason for you seeing the “No Longer a Registered User“ phrase is that the account has been suspended by eBay either because correct contact information is no longer on file, or because of some other transgression against eBay’s rules and policies.

If you have a complaint against the de-registered member, you should contact Customer Support or, if it is less than 60 days since closure of the auction for the item in question, you should use eBay’s dispute procedure (instructions for doing this are on the eBay website Help pages – you can get there via this link).
