What constitutes “Offensive Material” is a matter of interpretation, and whilst most people in the UK would have similar ideas about a suitable definition or list, a significant minority would disagree.

Imagine the difficulty faced by eBay when trying to define its’ Policy on offensive material. eBay considers itself to be the hub of a global community which embraces members from almost every country, ethnic origin, religion and social background.

The consensus appears to be that any items which contain or promote themes of a violent nature, racial or religious hatred, pornography or obscene/profane language; are banned from sale on eBay.

If you are at all unsure of whether the item you wish to list on eBay falls into this category, we recommend that you read the Help pages at the eBay site – you can go there via this linkpage.
